My Job on TV

I am a digital artist by trade, and currently, the kind of digital artwork I do for a living is stereoscopic film conversion for Hollywood movies. In super-simple terms, stereoscopic film conversion is where you take a movie that was shot in 2D and create a 3D version after the fact.  Now, while most folks would consider working on movies to be glamorous and/or fascinating, amid the worlds of film-making and visual effects, stereo conversion is usually given the critical shaft and is frequently referred to in negative lights by layperson and critic alike, regardless of their intellectual qualification to comment ... usually ... but not this past week. :) I have to say, it was a kind of uplifting to see this positive and informative piece that G4 TV's Attack of the Show recently shot at my workplace about our work on Titanic 3D.     Game Trailers - E3 2012 - AOTS Exclusive

Trailer Assemble!

When you are working hard on a new movie day in and day out, and then a new trailer for it comes along and the presentation is so exciting that the film actually looks unfamiliar enough to make you say "Wow!" ...well ...that's a good thing. ;)

Mocap with the Kinect

After mentally toying with the idea for a long time, I finally cracked and I decided to buy a Kinect for the X-Box 360. I did not buy it so I could play the games mind you, but rather, the animator in me bought it so I could hook it up to my PC and see what it can do in terms of improvised affordable motion capture utilizing software from brekel.com .

Dear Robert Hanson...

I would like to take a quick moment to say to Robert L. Hanson of Altamonte Springs in Florida: Please grow up and pay your freaking bills! ...and to every bill collector on the planet Earth, 407-619-3826 is not Mr. Hanson's phone number anymore, it hasn't been his number for years... and like it's previous users since Mr. Hanson, I'll be gladly getting rid of this number soon as well! In the mean time:  Bill collectors, please stop failing at your jobs and go directly to Hell!!! That is all... thank you.

Sharing is Caring

For some time now, I've been running a website called VFX Job Hunt.com , which is a site dedicated to helping digital artists in entertainment fields (like myself) find work, mainly by syndicating visual effects and animation job postings from around the web. While the job postings at VFX Job Hunt do include video game jobs, over time, I've been more and more of the opinion that game jobs deserve additional and separate attention. Thus, I recently created a separate similar site:   http://www.GameDevGigs.com/   So, for all my aspiring and experienced game artist and programmer friends out there (and there are quite a few of you), please check out and tell your friends about GameDevGigs.com ...and more importantly, let me know what you think.   Also, on a much less serious note, a very interesting friend of mine created this site that I'd also like to share:   http://lfiquotes.tumblr.com/  This site is a satirical endeavor that I feel the need to share becau...
